The Orchard staff are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people that attend the academy. We work closely with a wide range of external agencies including the Local Safeguarding Children Board. More information about LSCB and the work they do can be found on the NELC Safeguarding Children Board website.

Click here to visit the LSCB website.

If you have an immediate worry or concern, you can contact the local authority Families first access point (FFAP) on 01472 326292 (option 2).

We also follow the principles outlined in the Department for Educations ‘keeping children safe in education’.

Understanding the principles of both of the above and understanding the setting of the School and our learners, we have our own ‘Safeguarding Policy’. Safeguarding is THE most important factor in keeping our children safe, both in and out of school and parents are encouraged to use the expertise of the school as a reference point should they have any concerns. All parents are provided with the access out of hours number in order to report any worries or concerns.

Children Missing from Education

There are two types of Missing Person information; Runaway & Missing from Care and also, Child Missing from Education (leading to removal from Roll).

With reference to North East Lincolnshire LSCB website, the following Missing Person protocols must be followed if a student is missing from school, these were updated in 2016 and 2017:

  • If a parent/carer informs us that a child has been missing for 72 hours (or the academy is aware of the fact), the academy must advise the parent/carer to call Police 101 to report.
  • If the child is CIN/CP the school will refer the matter straight to the Social Worker involved immediately.

Updated LSCB polices are attached for completeness:

If you have any concerns relating to your child’s health and well being you can pass these on via the school telephone number or refer them on the form below. The school’s Child Protection/Safeguarding lead can also be contacted as follows:
